The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania community mourns the loss of Gregory Stephen “Greg” Lamberson, a gifted artisan, decorated Marine, and beloved son, brother, and friend, who passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 40. Greg’s life was a remarkable blend of creativity, courage, and an unrelenting spirit of adventure that inspired all who knew him.
Born on December 4, 1984, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Greg was a fearless and imaginative soul from an early age. His childhood was marked by daring exploits and a passion for adventure that continued throughout his life. Whether skydiving, rock climbing, or exploring new horizons, Greg embraced life with enthusiasm and a boundless zest for discovery. Alongside his adventurous spirit was a profound love for artistic expression, which became a defining feature of his life and career.
Greg’s educational journey reflected his determination and vision. He earned an Associate in Arts degree from Palomar College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Art + Design from Towson University. Additionally, he completed a Certification for Veteran Entrepreneurs at Towson, highlighting his commitment to both his military service and entrepreneurial ambitions.
As an artisan, Greg was renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. His work in designing, restoring, and renovating architectural elements was marked by precision and artistry. One of his most notable achievements was the meticulous restoration of the capitals, bases, plinths, and shafts of the portico at the historic Kane Manor Inn in Kane, Pennsylvania—a project that stands as a lasting testament to his skill and dedication.
Greg also served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, both on active duty and as a reservist. Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion of the 4th Marine Division, he earned numerous commendations, medals, and citations. His military service exemplified leadership, discipline, and unwavering commitment to his country.
He is lovingly remembered by his father, David Lamberson, and stepmother Tammy Lamberson; his mother, Mary Jo Burnett; siblings Jason, Matthew (and partner Allyssa), and Samantha Lamberson; step-siblings Maria Fiaschetti, Lizzy Skiffington, Gregory Burnett, and Eric Burnett; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched with warmth and brilliance. He was preceded in death by Jeffrey Burnett, his mother’s husband, and grandparents Eugene and Donna Lamberson, and James and Suzanne Cassarly.
A memorial service celebrating Greg’s life will be held on October 12, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Stewartstown American Legion, 19222 Barrens Rd. S, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
Greg’s legacy is one of bold creativity, deep compassion, and a life lived fully with an open heart. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him, and may we carry forward the light he so generously shared with the world.
